BRIEF HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL BANK OF HARVEY

In December of 1964, a national bank charter was approved for the National Bank of Harvey and the doors of the bank opened in January 1965.  The National Bank had average deposits of $651,000 in 1965 with average assets of $1,022,000 and capital of $117,000.

The National Bank of Harvey has grown steadily over the years by servicing the agriculture sector as a base and retail and commercial business that support agriculture and has assets totaling in excess of $60,000,000.  The National Bank is a full service commercial bank that serves Harvey and its surrounding area.  It has expanded its services over the years to include Harvey Insurance Agency and it offers investment opportunities for its customers through Investment Centers of America.

As a result of continued growth in the bank, our present facilities were built in 1983.  The structure is a two story pre-stressed concrete building that houses the Bank, Agency, and Investment Center on the main floor.  The top floor is leased to a medical clinic. The National Bank, Harvey Insurance, and the Investment Centers of America are proud to serve the Harvey area and plan to be an integral part of the community in the future.
